The Louis Vuitton Chapeau Souple is the smaller version of the Boite Chapeaux 50. These bags are extremely popular with its unique design, especially after being released in reverse monogram.
In this post, I’ll be showing you some photos of a Boite Chapeau I determined to be fake. Spotting these fakes saves my clients hundreds if not thousands of dollars each time I do. Need assistance now? Contact us.
Here’s what you need to watch out for.
I noticed right away that the “patina” was too even. I also noticed the “leather” was super smooth, when it should show some grain.
Next is the made in stamp. The made in stamp is eerily similar to an authentic one, but a key difference was the missing triple stitch on the bottom of the made in stamp.
Lastly, the date code is what made all the red flags come together to determine that this bag is fake. The date code shouldn’t be as spaced out as it is. The code should be close together and centered on the tab.
Now that you’ve seen what the fake looks like, here’s an authentic Louis Vuitton Boite Chapeau Souple. Photos by Yoogis Closet.
