What is a Louis Vuitton "Super Fake"?

The term "super fake" is used for Louis Vuitton products that are not real but can pass for authentic to many people, and possibly fool an expert as well. As a Louis Vuitton Authenticator, I've seen many different quality fakes, from poorly made fakes to higher quality ones.

How can I spot a Louis Vuitton "Super Fake"?

Depending on how familiar you are with Louis Vuitton, you might not even notice them when searching for a specific bag, like the Speedy Bandouliere above or say a Neverfull. Typically, the most popular bags are faked since they have a wider appeal but don't assume that a lesser popular Louis Vuitton can't be faked too! 

Here's a few things to look for that can help you spot a super fake even if you're not familiar with the Louis Vuitton brand:

• Pricing. When you're shopping on eBay or Poshmark, you'll notice many bags that are priced right under $500, this is to avoid the mandatory authentication process. If the bag is priced lower than it should be (think a brand new Neverfull) and the price is $499, run!
• Condition. Seeing a brand new Louis Vuitton bag going for a much lower price than it should be (at times it can be priced over $499) is a red flag. Think about it, why would someone list their pristine or like new Louis Vuitton bag for 50% or more off retail?
• Low quality photos. Blurry, unfocused photos and poor lighting can also be a sign that the seller is trying to hide key details that makes it easier for an expert to properly authenticate.
